IHSA - Observers Program

In an effort to foster excellence in officiating, the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has mandated that all local officials' associations adopt its 'Observers Program'. As the local (chicago area) association, the GCC will implement the program.

The singular goal of the program is to help you become a better soccer official.

It offers you these unique benefits:

  • The opportunity to be observed by an experienced high school referee.
  • Your choice of the high school game you're officiating for your observation.
  • A confidential written commentary on your game performance, highlighting your strengths and suggesting areas for improvement.
Results of the observation will be between you and your observer. The observations will not be reported to your high school assignor or to the IHSA as the basis for promotion or post-season game assignments. You will be charged a fee of $20 for the observation to partially offset the $50 fee paid to the observer by the GCC.

All observers will be experienced IHSA officials who have officiated at all levels of high school competition and have been trained as observers by the IHSA.

For more information, or to request an observation during the current IHSA season, contact: John Anderson or Joe Bean
